A While Ago...

Snow Shoeing
So for those of you who don't know we are expecting another little one this November.  So I thought this pregnancy I would try to be a little bit more active to help me not be so sick.  Its working....kind of.  So we went to out in the snow with Phoenix and thought we would be adventurous.  We were going to try and go to Stuart Falls, but we thought we were too cool for the trail and ended hiking straight up for a while, a long while, and lets just say I got really tired fast.  So we didn't make it all the way to Stuart Falls, but we took some cool pictures and had fun watching Sampson run down the side of the mountain :)

Goblin Valley
We drove down to Goblin Valley, where Sampson had previously taken his scout troop.  Even though we brought a Coleman stove, Sampson decided to cook all of our meals from his new Jet Boil.  Yay for ramen, mac n' cheese, and hot chocolate!! We made peach cobbler that night in our dutch oven and Phoenix was completely amazed by the fire...so amazed she kept trying to get in the fire.  Phoenix spent most of the day playing in the dirt.  She had the time of her life!

Capitol Reef
We decided to drive through Captiol Reef on the way home.  We then decided to go on a "little" hike and ended up hiking the 8 miles up to Cassidy's Arch and back to the car.  I had done this hike before a few years back, but lets just say hiking is slightly more difficult when you pregnant : )

Phoenix's Birthday!!!

1 Year Pictures

For Phoenix's Birthday we had a cookie monster cake, which turned out to be more of a screaming fest than actual cake eating, but Kenny, Sampson, and me enjoyed destroying the cake after Phoenix didn't like it.  Then we took her to the Bean Museum where she went crazy talking to the all of the ducks.  She also got to pet a snake, turtle, and a gecko.  She loves all the animals and especially loves growling at all of the bears.

IASK - Trip to Haiti

Haiti
February 6-14, 2010

Sampson went on a Humanitarian trip with an organization called IASK.  They flew into the Dominican Republic because the Port Au Prince airport is not accepting international flights yet.  They then took an 11 hour bus ride to the city of Leogane which is about 20 miles west of Port Au Prince.  This city is located close to the Epicenter of the earthquake.

As a student and EMT, Sampson went with a group of doctors, dentists, nurses, paramedics, and dental assistants to assist the people of Haiti.  They were able to care for over 1200 people from Monday to Thursday night.  Sampson was in charge of Triage (he assessed and prioritized the people based on the severity of their condition).

Once there was a snowman...

Phoenix's First Snowman
I needed to get my Chick-fil-a fix which meant taking Phoenix to the mall (where Chick-fil-a is located) in a snow storm...yes I like to eat there.  We tried to hurry as to not keep Phoenix in the snow, but we quickly found out that she loves the snow and was laughing the whole time we were running through the parking lot.  She was trying to grab all the snowflakes.  So the next morning we decided to build Phoenix a snowman in the back yard (well I did the deciding and Sampson did the building :) We thought our snowman was pretty awesome until we saw the neighbor down the street build one twice as big.  Oh well Phoenix likes it and that's all that matters.  Phoenix was able to play in the snow for the first time and as soon as she got snow on her bare hand she decided that she didn't like the snow that much anymore. Too cold.  She does love her snowman though.  Every morning we open her blinds to wave at the now half melted snowman.
