Eva Jewell

After a crazy week of waiting to see if I was going to have a VBAC we decided to go ahead and schedule a C-section on the 15th (my official due date).  The Friday before we went into the hospital, thinking I was in labor, only to be sent home. I spent all Sunday having contractions.  Even though I was constantly urged by mom to go into the hospital because of her strong desire for me not to have another c-section.  But I was not about to go into the hospital for the second time and be sent home because I wasn't dilated far enough.  At about 2:00 am I couldn't take the contractions any more so we went in.  I was only dilated to a 3, but they called my Dr. and ordered my epidural...one way or another the baby was coming.  After having little to no change in about 6 hours, I was all of sudden was at a 10!!  Within 22 minutes of pushing Eva Jewell was born at 9:52 am.  She was 6 lbs. 14 oz. and 19 inches long.  We are so excited to welcome this beautiful little girl into this world especially without another C-section!!

Harrogate here we come....

Sampson got accepted into LMU - Debusk College of Osteopathic Medicine!!!!!!  We are soooo excited!!!  This was our top choice in schools and I am so proud of Sampson and all his hard work. LMU is located in Harrogate, TN about an hour north of Knoxville...which too me is out in the middle of nowhere.  We are also only about 3 hours away from Sampson's family which is totally awesome.  It is always nice to be close to family. He doesn't start till next Fall so we won't be leaving Utah until July, but it's one less stress that we have to worry about.  Now if the baby would just come early, like right now, life would be great!

This is a picture of LMU from a distance.  The medical school building is the brick building you can see just over the hill.  This area is absolutely beautiful tucked up against the mountains.

Happy Anniversary to Us!!!!!

3 Years....
August 21, 2007

It's hard to believe that Sampson and I have already been married for three years.  We have served and lived at orphanages in Mexico, Bolivia, and Peru.  I have graduated from BYU and almost finished my Masters Degree.  We have been blessed by our sweet little angel, Phoenix.  Sampson has become a certified lifeguard and EMT.  He has devoted hundreds of hours to shadowing, the Timpanogos Emergency Response Team, scouts and Young Men's,  being a TA, serving in Peru and Haiti, working as an EMT at BYU, and studying and taking the MCAT on top of taking all of his classes and working 20 hours a week.  Looking back, I wonder how we did it all, but somehow we just did.   Life has been crazy as we have begun to experience what applying to medical school is really like. I don't think we ever thought I would be 6 months pregnant with our second kid in three years, but we both wouldn't change a thing.  Amidst a lot of struggles this summer we have become closer than ever.  It has been amazing to see the tender mercies of the Lord have such a profound impact on our lives.  We find the examples and lessons that our parents have inculcated into our lives have helped get us to where we are thus far and for this we are forever grateful.  We look forward to see where life will take us next.
